Welcome to the first edition of our new newsletter from the Tramant Travel & Lifestyle network of sites. This is a twice-monthly "add-on" to our popular Friday email, which now concentrates solely on cruises. This look at travel destinations and more will be arriving on the first and third Wednesday of the month.

Not Necessarily Weird

While you can certainly follow the slogan Keep Austin Weird by engaging in the city's well-known "indie culture" and supporting local small businesses, Texas' capital city is also a spot for more traditional visits. The highlight of the independent spirit is probably the annual SXSW (South By Southwest) Conference and Film & TV Festival, with events held at the Austin Convention Center and several theaters throughout town. On the more traditional side, there's plenty of business being done at the Texas State Capitol. Tesla has built a "gigafactory" on the east side of town and we haven't forgotten that Austin is also a college town, home of the main campus of the University of Texas .
