East Coast Beaches:
There's Still Time

Labor Day may be the traditional end of the summer beach season (for those of us in the northern hemisphere), but the temperatures are still warm enough in many US east coast beach resort towns for a last-minute escape. And we're not even going to mention the beaches of Florida, most of which are available for your enjoyment year-round.
Just under 150 miles south of Ocean City is Virginia Beach. Some geography trivia: Virginia Beach is the only major East Coast beach town that isn't on a barrier island, making it a bit easier to get to and to explore the rest of the Norfolk/Virginia Beach metro
area.
On Hilton Head Island (yep, another island) you'll find more golf than you can shake all of your 14 sticks at and some really fantastic oceanfront homes that are available for rent. And plenty of great resort hotels, too. Hilton Head is just 30 miles from
Savannah and about 280 miles southeast of Atlanta.
