Louisville:
More Than Horses

Louisville is probably best known as the home of the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs. But there's a lot more to see and do in Kentucky's largest city than just watch the horses run. The world's most famous boxer was from Louisville, so it's no
surprise that you'll find the Muhammad Ali Center museum on the city's waterfront. Over 23,000 students attend the University of Louisville, located near Churchill Downs and between the airport and downtown. The Kentucky Exposition Center
, which includes the state fairgrounds, is also in this neighborhood, just south of the university.
Kentucky Derby season begins with the annual "Thunder Over Louisville" festival, featuring an airshow and one of the biggest fireworks extravaganzas in the country with explosives launched from bridges and barges on the Ohio River. The Thunder usually erupts a couple Saturdays before the Derby, which is traditionally held on the first Saturday in May.
Louisville Trivia: While we knew that the airport in Memphis serves as the primary hub for packages sent via FedEx, we were not aware that Louisville International Airport performs the same function for UPS.
