Exploring San Antonio
A pretty wide variety of attractions await visitors to this city in south-central Texas. Most famous is The Alamo, site of the 1836 battle that was a pivotal event in the Texas Revolution.
Another great spot for viewing historic buildings is the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, a 948-acre collection of four historic Spanish missions (Concepcion, Espada, San Jose and San Juan) along the San Antonio River on the south side of town. The San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA) is located in the former home of Lone Star Brewery. The museum has a large collection of ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian art as well as Latin American art. For a taste of the Wild West, The Buckhorn Saloon and Museum offers food, drink and history in a place where both Teddy Roosevelt and Pancho Villa reportedly spent some time.
Portions of the San Antonio River in the downtown area have been transformed in
the famously scenic River Walk. Great places to stay in this area include the InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk, Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk and the Menger Hotel.
